The Port Fairy Buddhist Community is located at
Port Fairy on the coast in South Western Victoria, approximately 300km
from Melbourne, Australia.
We came into being during 2008 and are part of the world wide organisation known as the
Triratna Buddhist Community.
Triratna has more than 70 Centres situated in 28 countries throughout the
world. It was founded in the U.K. in 1967 by Sangharakshita.
Sangharakshita lived in India for twenty years prior to 1967, during which
time he studied and practised the three great traditions of Buddhism. The
Triratna Buddhist Order draws upon all of these traditions to present the
Teaching of the Buddha in a way designed to be more accessible to the
Western mind.
